This month, Paul Huggett, Knowledge Transfer Manager for Industrial Technologies at Innovate UK KTN, shares what his work involves.

What is your role at Innovate UK KTN?

“Knowledge Transfer Manager for Industrial Technologies.”

What does your job role involve?

“My role involves supporting innovation in the semiconductor and associated sector industries through direct support or working with UKRI colleagues.”

What does a typical day/week look like at KTN?

“There is no typical day or week, one day might be all on-line, another all project reporting and another face to face client interaction.”

What’s your biggest priority at the moment?

“Semiconductors. The recent semiconductor shortages have brought the critical supply chains into sharp focus for manufacturers and central government.”

What upcoming technology advancements/innovations are you excited about in your sector/industry/area of work?

“Semiconductors such as power electronics are critical to Net Zero in providing methods to electrify the wider economy.”

Tell us about something exciting you’re working on?

“Helping to establish semiconductors as a key enabling technology in the  future economies of the UK.”

What is your previous work experience?

“My first and second degrees are both in chemistry. I moved into a long career in semiconductors and the associated supply chains such as defence, telecomms and renewables before joining Innovate UK KTN. On the journey I have worked extensively abroad, most notably in Switzerland, the US and France.”
