About the event
Hosted at a city centre rooftop venue with panoramic views of Cape Town’s iconic skyline on the night before the start of the Indaba, this inaugural reception is for conference speakers and selected guests representing the most innovative and influential players in Africa’s energy sector.
Join us for an evening of meaningful networking with industry peers, with refreshments and canapés, where we will showcase some of the most innovative energy innovators from both South Africa and the UK. Together we will introduce a new collaborative network, the UK-South Africa Smart Energy Global Innovation Network, that aims to forge partnerships between African and UK organisations, and by harnessing smart technologies and artificial intelligence, drive sustainable energy development across the continent.
With opening remarks from the British High Commissioner to South Africa, this welcoming reception promises insightful dialogues on the future of energy, the role of strategic partnerships, and the network’s vision of stimulating the continent’s energy ambitions.

The UK-South Africa Smart Energy Global Innovation Network is a new initiative led by the Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa Project team based in South Africa. The network will bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, industry, policymakers and investors from the UK and South Africa to support the development and adoption of digital, smart and AI energy technologies across energy generation, transmission and distribution, and usage.
