The company was incorporated in 2009 based on a unique patented motor technology invented by the company’s Founder and CTO, Dr Tim Woolmer, whilst studying for his DPhil at Oxford University.
YASA aligns with the PEMD space having also developed unique power electronics and motor controller products that push the boundaries of power density. Designing and manufacturing both the motors and controllers result in system-level optimisation and integration. YASA’s solutions offer a high level of efficiency, with a low level of mass, which results in a greater vehicle range.
