The Department for Transport and Innovate UK are delighted to announce the first set of winners for the First of Kind (FOAK) 2022 competition. Winners will receive funding to help develop novel technology which improves rail freight services and lowers carbon emissions from trains.

Over 1,000 delegates packed into the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on Friday 11 November to see the great technological strides made in the field of quantum technology at the 6th Quantum Showcase.

Student teams were challenged to provide a significant change to the speed and cost of constructing Social Housing in the UK, combined with the greater use of sustainable materials, and with reduced energy cost.

This programme will enable the LAs to showcase exemplar projects with like-minded digital leads in other regions.  It will also enable them to learn from other areas to help them strategise for a digital intervention within their own operation.

Innovate UK KTN’s Innovation Canvas was rolled out in South Africa in August 2022. Building on the success of the training, the Global Alliance Africa team worked with the Association of Startup and SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK) and the Association of Countrywide Innovation Hubs in Kenya to deliver training to Kenya companies and this too was a great success!

In 2023, Zinc will support its fourth cohort of researchers, funded alongside UKRI, to create innovations that allow everyone to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected across generations for as long as possible, and narrow the gap between the experiences of the richest and the poorest.
