Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) develops when bacteria, fungi or viruses are exposed to antibiotics, antifungals or antivirals. As a result, the antimicrobials become ineffective and infections may persist. In addition, medical interventions including surgery, chemotherapy and stem cell therapy may become impossible. AMR is considered by WHO as one of the biggest global threats of Health and Food Safety.

Currently, over 600 million sponges go to landfill every year in the UK, with at least 80% of those sponges being made from virgin plastic. Seep (Sustainable Everyday Essential Products) is addressing this problem through the production of sustainable household products.

On 15th October 2021, KTN’s Decarbonising Ports & Harbours Innovation Network is hosting an interactive workshop to commence socialising our thoughts on whiteboards in order to frame, structure, and flow ideas into an upcoming Solutions Roadmapping report dedicated to the ports and harbours community. This exercise is crucial to allow us to take stock of the current solutions available and those at different stages of development.
