About the initiative
AI adoption in industry today is about more than writing code or buying licenses and hoping magic happens. As an organisational leader, you need to know what good deployment looks like, what questions to ask your team and your suppliers, and how to avoid the mistakes that sink good projects before and after they reach production.
The Practitioner’s Hub: AI Deployment Studio is a cohort-based programme for leaders in the eight sectors driving the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy, exploring the practicalities and realities of AI adoption and implementation at scale. Over the course of the programme, participants will explore multiple facets of the AI deployment journey, exiting with a more resilient approach to implementation and evaluation for business-critical systems.
What to expect
A structured path through deployment
Fourteen sessions across four phases; orientation, responsible foundations, launch preparation, and evaluation.
Peer exchange with leaders who get it
An intimate cross-sector cohort of peers, working through the same decisions and challenges from different angles.
Practical tools, not theory
Templates for use case selection, readiness assessment, and deployment planning that you take back to your organisation.
A direct line to expert practitioners
Workshops and clinics led by specialists in AI assurance, procurement, ethics and secure deployment.
Tangible outputs
Participants will have the opportunity to write up their real-world AI deployment experience as a case study.
How much time is involved?
One 2-hour session per week for 14 weeks, two full day in-person events at the start and end of the cohort to connect with other participants. Additional expert clinics last up to 90 mins but are optional to attend.
Why this programme exists
AI adoption is rarely blocked by a lack of ambition. It stalls on the questions no one in the room can answer with confidence: What’s actually feasible here? What are we accountable for? What does “ready” look like before we deploy?
The Practitioner’s Hub: AI Deployment Studio closes that gap. Over 16 weeks, you’ll work through the full arc of responsible deployment, from spotting the right use case, to navigating your sector’s regulatory landscape, to building a plan, alongside a small cohort of leaders facing the same decisions in parallel sectors. Practical sessions are augmented with expert clinics, a chance to dig into your understanding and challenges. The AI Deployment Studio starts and finishes with in-person events to build your network, showcase what you’ve learnt, and meet others solving similar challenges.
Who can apply?
Senior leaders working in one of the UK’s eight IS-8 priority sectors who are responsible for, or closely involved in, decisions about adopting AI.
No technical knowledge is required the programme meets people where they’re at in terms of their AI adoption journey.
How are participants selected?
Participants must be employed at a UK-registered company, in one of the eight Industrial Strategy Sectors (Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Creative Industries, Defence, Digital and Technologies, Life Sciences, Financial Services, Professional and Business Services). Your company should be looking to deploy AI into a business-critical domain such as decision-critical systems, operational and industrial systems, or compliance, safety and quality systems. Companies can apply as teams – please only submit one application per company.
If you’re not sure if these criteria apply to your situation, we encourage you to apply regardless.
