About the opportunity
The UK delegation will support organisations seeking to build relationships and strengthen consortium development for forthcoming Horizon Europe battery calls, including:
- Novel approaches towards next-generation battery concepts, leveraging the enabling role of innovative advanced materials
- Improvement of adaptability, flexibility and efficiency of existing recycling processes
- Sustainable and competitive cell production techniques for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries
- Demonstration for long-duration battery energy storage systems
Innovate UK Business Connect will arrange and cover the cost of return flights and hotel accommodation for successful applicants. The cohort group will be joined by an Innovate UK Business Connect European programmes team member, to provide support in person. This cohort visit is co-organised between the UK Battery Innovation Programme and Innovate UK Business Connect.

Applications are open to UK-based organisations that intend to participate in future Horizon Europe battery projects including:
- Businesses
- Universities
- Research and technology organisations
- Catapults
- Innovation centres
- Other organisations able to demonstrate a clear role in a consortium
We are seeking applicants who have clearly identified one of the four 2027 battery call topics; have previous experience of applying to Horizon Europe/Horizon 2020 collaborative R&D calls; and also have a clear plan of action for finding consortium partners and developing a proposal as a partner or coordinator. We will take a portfolio approach when evaluating applications to ensure a balanced delegation.

- Access support before and after the event to maximise impact

The Cohort Visit will include:
- Flight from UK to Stockholm, Sweden (Tuesday 10th November)
Please note: Battery Innovation Day site visit trip not included.
- Battery Innovation Days conference attendance (Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th November)
During the event, we will share a delegation briefing and preparation activities; provide support for identifying and engaging potential consortium partners and enable access to networking and brokerage opportunities.
- Flight back to the UK (Returning either late on Thursday 12th November if flights are available to your location or on the morning of Friday 13th November).
For those who are BEPA members, you are welcome to attend the BEPA Members-only Brokerage event on Fri 13th Nov and return home later in the day.
Post-event follow-up support to help maintain momentum and progress proposal development will be provided.

Applicants will be asked to outline the Horizon Europe battery call(s) they are interested in, their anticipated role within a consortium, the types of organisations they are seeking to engage, how attending Battery Innovation Days will strengthen proposal development, and their commitment to developing or participating in a Horizon Europe proposal.

- Registering on relevant partner-search and brokerage platforms
- Participating in pre- and post-event support activities
- Providing information on contacts, collaborations and proposal development outcomes
- Supporting monitoring activities designed to measure the impact of the delegation

Attendees who are BEPA members may wish to also attend the members-only Brokerage Event on 13th November. The cost of the additional hotel night will be covered by the applicant.
