Making electric vehicles easier for everyone in Coventry
Coventry City Council, Doublemsc Solutions and Coventry University are working together to make electric vehicles more accessible for residents without private driveways who cannot charge at home.
The project is testing Enstorel, a mobile flexible charging system designed to meet the needs of these households, who make up nearly half of Coventry’s population. By focusing on where and how people actually want to charge, the team aims to make EV ownership more practical and affordable.
Insights from the project will support a new planning model for cities to understand EV charging facilitation in ways that match local demand. By placing user needs at the centre, the project is helping remove key barriers to EV adoption.
The goal is to make cleaner transport the easier choice for everyone, while supporting better air quality, lower running costs and more inclusive access to electric vehicles.
