Made Smarter was borne out of an industry-led review exploring how UK manufacturing industries can prosper via integration of digital technology tools and innovation.  We are running a series of webinars – Making Manufacturing Smarter – to share what’s been happening across the programme to-date, what’s next for the programme (including introduction to new funding competitions), success stories along the way and how YOU can get involved.

The pace of digitalisation of the UK’s manufacturing sector has lagged behind other nations, which is in part due to a lack of visionary thinking. Across the Made Smarter Innovation programme we are horizon scanning now to understand what the future will look like and how we can prepare for and create the new digital innovations of the future.

The world is changing. Manufacturers are improving the products they make and the way they make them. This reduces our environmental footprint, increases resource efficiency and creates competitive advantage.

This webinar will explore how data and digital technologies can help identify and effect energy efficiency and resource savings within the factory.

International collaboration is essential if we are going to achieve our objective of making the UK the global leader in the innovation, adoption & exportation of advanced digital technologies. In this webinar we will explore national and international strengths around digital technology innovation and how the Manufacturing Made Smarter is supporting international collaboration – both for technology developers and Manufacturers.

The Made Smarter Innovation Programme is investing £30m to collaboratively develop novel digital solutions for key manufacturing challenges through a network of test beds and £6m in Digital Technology Accelerators to provide a catalyst for accelerating technology development and initiating partnerships with industry.

The innovation hubs are a national network of facilities available to the manufacturing industry, to develop, demonstrate and test digital solutions for manufacturing and supply chains. Both of these exciting innovation programmes will be explored in this webinar.

This session will explore some of the wider social concerns arising in relation to Future flight and think through the priorities we need to consider in order to realise the 2030 vision for future flight in the UK.
