The UK National Quantum Technologies Showcase 2020 is going virtual and you're invited!
We at KTN are proud to be the delivery partner for the 2020 UK National Quantum Technologies Showcase.
The Quantum Technologies Innovation Network team will be taking the lead in delivering this event.
The annual fixture in the industry calendar is back, highlighting the expertise, capabilities and advances of quantum technologies in the UK. Witness the real-world impact; network with industry movers and shakers; view exhibitions on the latest technology or innovation; discover Government-led projects and funding.
The virtual platform allows for a more in-depth and interesting experience: witness breakthrough technologies and prototype demonstrations from the Quantum Communications Hub; take part in Sensors and Timing QT Hub’s virtual booths on geophysics, healthcare, magnetometry and more; get an exclusive insider’s tour of quantum laboratories by NPL and University of Sussex; as well as demonstrations of a new atom-based terahertz imaging technology by Durham University, a diamond magnetometer by University of Warwick, a state-of-the-art quantum simulation engine, Quantillion, by Quantopticon, an ultra-precision machine performing a micromachining operation on a sensor base by Loxham Precision, and much, much more!
The UK National Quantum Technologies Showcase 2020 will build on the success of previous years, demonstrating the progress made by the National Programme, as it enters its second 5-year phase, and the growing commercialisation and industrialisation of quantum technologies in the UK. Over £1 billion of private and public funding over its 10-year lifetime, is aimed at accelerating the translation of quantum technologies into the marketplace, boosting UK business and making a real difference to our everyday lives.
What to expect at this year’s Showcase?
We have a number of exclusive announcements on the day from government and industry leaders. These announcements will shed light on the way forward for the UK’s policies and economic growth that can be expected from this emerging technology and its applications.
KTN will also be launching its Quantum Technology Landscape Map with a live demonstration of its capabilities. The increase of quantum activity in the UK and the push of the national strategy to commercialising quantum sciences and technologies has led to the development of a large number of industrial and research capabilities.
The Quantum Technology Innovation Network at KTN has recently gathered these capabilities in the form of an interactive, searchable and open access tool, mapping the existing businesses, publicly funded projects and research groups, the UK national centres and the available postgraduate training programmes. The quantum team at KTN is aspiring for this tool to become a point of reference for quantum capabilities in the UK, allowing every user to find a suitable contact point from academia and/or industry.
We are also excited to bring this event alongside our sponsors – Oxford Quantum Circuits and the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult. Attendees will be able to directly interact with their experts and innovations through a virtual booth.
There will be a wide array of people and organisations – from supply chain to end-users – learning, sharing and collaborating on the latest research and emerging areas of high interest, more specifically:
- Quantum communications
- Quantum sensing and timing
- Quantum imaging
- Quantum computing and simulation
- Quantum technology in industry

As we are now in Phase 2 of the Programme, this year’s showcase will emphasise how the research and technology being developed as part of the National Quantum Technologies Programme is having or will have an impact across a range of sectors, whilst demonstrating that commercialisation of quantum technologies in the UK is underway and growing in a range of sectors.
SPONSORS:
Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) has built the UK’s most advanced quantum computer, the only one commercially available in the country. OQC is supporting the UK’s ambition to lead the international race to commercialise quantum technologies and reshape our world: from enabling life-changing drug discoveries to developing new battery technologies.
The Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult (CSA Catapult) is a Not for Profit organisation headquartered in South Wales. It is focused on accelerating the adoption of compound semiconductors and on bringing applications to life in three technology areas: Power Electronics, RF & Microwave and Photonics. The CSA Catapult exists to help the UK compound semiconductor industry grow as they are integral to achieving the UK government’s 2050 net zero targets and ensuring secure and resilient communications in the digital world.
