Elaine Livera

I am a Knowledge Transfer Manager in the Materials and Manufacturing Team, currently supporting the Made Smarter Innovation Network.

My background is in mechanical engineering and materials science. I hold a PhD in metallurgy and metal additive manufacturing in which I focused primarily on process optimisation and microstructural control. My expertise extends to in-situ process monitoring techniques that utilise high speed thermal cameras and pyrometers to understand the quality of additively manufactured parts.

I have previously also worked in the space industry as a structural engineer as well as a manufacturing support engineer for the production of communications satellites.

I am keen to promote collaboration between industry and academia in order to further develop manufacturing technologies and enable a more sustainable future for our industry.
