Innovate UK Business Connect Global Alliance

Global Alliance is Innovate UK Business Connect’s global programme, working with over 20 countries at the forefront of international collaboration to drive economic growth and positive societal changes through research and innovation (R&I).

Purpose of the Role

The Project Coordinator – Global Alliance will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect’s global programmes that foster the advancement and exploitation of UK research and innovation for the strategic objectives of growing the UK economy and tackling global development needs.

Please note that this position is being recruited for a fixed term basis to 27/03/2026.

Key accountabilities of the role include

  • Coordinate a successful and timely delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect’s international project portfolio.
  • Work closely with external contractors and overseas agencies on the administration and planning of programmes and mission.
  • Work diligently with Innovate UK Business Connect finance team on project finance and reporting.
  • Contribute towards the capture of Global Alliance KPIs, case studies and CRM contents.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • To provide support in the planning, organisation and delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect’s evolving international project portfolio. This will involve working across Innovate UK Business Connect sector teams and with external partners and contractors.
  • To work closely with the Global Alliance Africa, Europe and GEM teams. This includes preparing mission scoping documents and the dissemination of project reports by liaising with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
  • To help maintain strong engagement and communication with businesses, counterparts in UKRI, Innovate UK, Government Departments and other relevant stakeholders.
  • To support follow-up activities resulting and ensure outcomes are tracked and captured accordingly. This includes measuring project KPIs and seeking case studies to ensure wider impact.
  • Undertake general administrative activities to support the timely delivery of projects.

Experience & Skills

Essential Experience 
  • Demonstrable experience in effective organisation and delivery of fast-paced, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • An understanding of research and innovation, with a strong appetite for learning new fields and skills.
  • Experience and aptitude in managing and working with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable competencies in using Microsoft Office 365 including management and upkeep of project critical documents.
  • Experience in reviewing technical documents.
Desirable Experience 
  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Project Management qualification, such as Prince2, APM or PMP is advantageous.
Skills
  • This role requires a highly motivated, self-starting and results oriented individual with a strong project support and coordination skills.
  • A good communicator with well-developed written and verbal skills, able to work in a cross-functional team.
  • Comfortable working autonomously with little supervision and as a team member as required.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 packages plus project delivery and organisational skills.
  • Able to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to undertake regular domestic travel and occasional international travel.
