Knowledge Transfer Manager – Global Alliance
The Knowledge Transfer Manager (KTM) – Global Alliance will deliver Innovate UK Business Connect’s global programmes that foster the advancement and exploitation of UK research and innovation for the strategic objectives of growing the UK economy and/or tackling global development needs. The role will provide technical and project management capabilities across the European and Global Expert Mission (GEM) Programmes.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- To be an active team member responsible for the successful and timely delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect’s international project portfolio, with a particular focus and responsibility across the European and GEM programmes.
- Develop a strong understanding of UK capabilities and their requirements of international partners with a view to identifying the most relevant partners to participate in European programmes.
- Support UK companies seeking to participate in European programmes, including delivery of themed workshops in partnership with Innovate UK Business Connect colleagues, relevant National Contact Points and Innovate UK Business Growth and other key stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of Global Expert Missions to key partner countries of the UK and confidently engage with senior external stakeholders (C-suite level).
- Delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect and Programme KPIs, project reports, proposals and CRM contents from the Global Expert Mission programme.
Roles & Responsibilities
- To be an active team member in delivering Innovate UK Business Connect’s Global Programmes. This will include leading the organisation of individual missions in partnership with in-country partners, overseas travel for delegation activities, reporting and capturing mission outcome.
- Build and maintain up-to-date knowledge of European programmes—particularly Horizon Europe—and relevant stakeholders, including European Partnerships and European Technology Platforms, with a focus on identifying and advancing areas of strategic interest to the UK.
- Deliver a comprehensive portfolio of Horizon Europe and other EU programme support products aimed at fostering high-impact collaborations and promoting European funding and partnership opportunities to UK businesses.
- Lead and support delivery across a range of European engagement activities, including Horizon Europe Brokerage visits,
- Inward Missions, and the Travel Awards scheme.
- Provide hands-on support at European-focused events, workshops, and networking opportunities as needed, to raise awareness and facilitate connections between UK and European stakeholders.
- To support the delivery of Innovate UK Business Connect’s Global Expert Mission Programme by leading individual missions and delivering its dissemination activities including mission reports.
Experience & Skills
Essential Experience
- Degree qualified or equivalent in engineering, science or business disciplines, with a strong ability in written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering results in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment across different sectors and internationally.
- Strong project management experience with a recognised project management qualification such as Prince2, APM or PMP.
- Equivalent experience in managing international projects will also be considered (minimum 3 years).
- A good understanding of the UK and international innovation landscape with an acumen or experience in business growth and development.
- Strong liaison, networking, diplomacy and negotiation skills. An ability to anticipate stakeholder reactions and communication needs.
- Experience in forging business and public-sector stakeholder relationships at all levels with a good professional profile and network.
- Strong ability in written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable experience in producing reports with a balance of strategic and technical depth by working with internal and external technical experts.
Desirable Experience
- Direct experience in European Programmes, with good understanding of the programme structures, influencing routes and what is required for a winning proposal.

- A highly motivated, self-starting and result-oriented individual with a strong desire to deliver economic and societal impacts through international innovation partnerships.
- An effective communicator comfortable engaging with international partners with a well-developed written and verbal skills.
- Ability to translate and disseminate complex topics for a broad audience.
- Able to interact with and understand the needs and capabilities of stakeholders across a range of technical and/or industrial disciplines.
- Highly analytical and numerate with the ability to think strategically.
- Willingness and the ability to undertake regular domestic and international travel.
- High level of IT literacy, excellent organisational skills, and attention to detail.
