TFI Demonstrators Competition Programme of Activities

The TFI Demonstrators Competition provides the opportunity for UK businesses to apply for up to 2-year projects, greater than £5m in size, focussed upon sustainability developments for the foundation industries. The competition aim is to support the demonstration of the future technology required to improve the productivity and competitiveness of UK foundation industries, piloted at active foundation industry sites, de-risking future deployment for all foundation industries. This programme of events will help bring to life some of the key themes that will make up the competition and make connections across the industries.

Cohort Technology Showcase

Launches week commencing 20th September

KTN and Innovate UK have set up an online Technology Showcase for the Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) Resilient Recovery and Fast Start Projects, launching week commencing 20th September 2021.

This Technology Showcase is an excellent opportunity for the competition cohort to promote their achievements and future planned work to the wider TFI community, as well as allowing them to interact with each other and find potential consortia partners for upcoming competitions. This is your opportunity to find the missing capability or technology you need to complement your project or to showcase your services and expertise for others to find.

Each project is asked to submit a 2 minute video to discuss their project, present their achievements, discuss their future plans, and to address whether there is a potential for the project to be in the DEMO competition and the kind of partners they would be looking for. These videos will be collated into an online gallery accessible to all and will be launched alongside a Meeting Mojo platform for networking and meeting opportunities. Demo Competition Briefing Event and Capability for TFI Event

12th October, 10:00 – 13:00

Join Innovate UK and KTN for details of the new Transforming Foundation Industries Demonstrators Competition, followed by the Capability for TFI Event where you can learn about Research Organisations expertise and find consortium partners for DEMO.

Competition Briefing, 10:00 – 11.30

The competition briefing event provides potential applicants with information on the competition scope, eligibility, how to apply and support available.

Capability for TFI, 11:40 – 13:00

KTN will be launching the outputs of the outreach study which was conducted to map the existing UK capability that can be leveraged to support the foundation industries. We will be hosting several Research Organisations to discuss with you how their expertise could be of benefit to you in the curation of future projects as well as addressing the innovation needs of your business more generally.

Call for Abstracts for the above 3 conferences:

The three Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) support bodies (KTN, Network + and TransFIRe) are jointly organising these three conferences to find solution providers to the challenges of the Foundation Industries (FI). This coincides with the TFI Challenge launching its DEMO Competition where FI’s will be looking for solutions to address their problems. Abstracts of no more than 250 words are invited for these 3 conferences. For more information about the challenges, please watch the introductory webinar recording here.

Please send your 250 word (max.) abstracts by email to Neelam Mughal by 20th September clearly stating for which of the 3 conferences it is for. You will be notified if your abstract has been successful the week after the submission deadline.
