Innovate UK will be delivering a 1-year SBRI competition Vaccines for Epidemic Diseases: Readiness for clinical development, on behalf of DHSC. The call will open on the 11th of October and close on the 10th of November 2021, with a proposed start date of 1st April 2022. This call is being announced in advanced of the official call opening as Innovate UK and DHSC recognise this is a busy and trying time, and wish to give organisations as much time as possible to plan potential applications. The call will be open to any organisation, including academic, research, and industry institutions.

This is an Official Development Assistance competition that aims to invest in vaccine development to address one or more of the 12 UK Vaccine Network priority pathogens or “Disease X”, to reduce their potential to cause a disease outbreak in a low- or middle-income country. Proposals can address any part of the pre-clinical, non-clinical, manufacturing, or clinical pathway, within a 1-year time frame, progressing vaccine research or making it ready to be progressed further along the developmental pathway. Further details will be made available once the call is formally launched on the Innovate UK website in the coming weeks. Once this has happened Innovate UK’s customer services team will be able to provide more information. Until then Innovate UK would politely ask that you do not contact them.
