In a similar approach to the Technology Readiness (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness (MRL) tools, a new diagnostic tool is now available to help companies track and benchmark Digital Readiness. The Digital Readiness Tool (DRL), which will be launched at the International Business Festival in Liverpool on Wednesday 20th June, provides an open diagnosis tool to allow and promote direct comparison and benchmarking with other companies of size, sector and region.
DRL has 2 options, a quick check tool to explore what DRL is all about and an in-depth analysis of a business that may take 90 minutes or so to complete.
Companies who are likely to be sophisticated users of digital technology will be taken through an online set of questions to identify where they sit within the 9-stage scale, a bit like TRL. The tool with help highlight areas for further development. All this is available free of charge. However, should they wish to engage external support they can choose a dedicated accredited expert to help develop their digital journey.
Developed by a team including the Hennik group, KTN, the Digital Engineering and Test Centre, HSSMI, Digital Catapult, High Value Manufacturing Catapult and Value Chain, Digital Readiness will set the standard for planning for growth using digital approaches for a wide range of UK businesses from Engineering to Pharmaceuticals and Biochemical to Manufacturing.
Malcolm Harold, Digital Manufacturing Specialist for KTN said, “The UK needs a national digital readiness level approach to enable businesses to benchmark themselves against their peers using a uniform approach. The tool will identify areas of weaknesses and help create an action plan to address these challenges.”
The launch will take place at the Manufacturing Innovation Summit at the International Business Festival. If you are attending the Summit and would like to attend the launch event, it is taking place at 1630 on 20th June at Stand 86 in the Innovation Zone, where attendees will receive a special insight into how the DRL-Tool will help manufacturers to grow using digital technologies.
