Last chance to apply for the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles 4: Piloting Passenger Services Competition

Apply for funding to research new connected and autonomous vehicle technologies and demonstrate them in a real-world trial.

The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) is investing £25 million in collaborative research and development projects for up to four industry-led pilot schemes for self-driving vehicles. They expect to fund high quality projects that can demonstrate UK capability and technologies to a global audience.

They are looking for ambitious proposals where the commercial benefit is strong and there is a clear route to a commercial operation after the project. As such, projects should be large enough to test and demonstrate the underlying business and operating model.

Projects must pilot viable business opportunities and aim to test and validate:

• the technologies against a clear user need;
• public acceptance of the technologies; and
• the business models that will deliver the service.

 

The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) is a joint policy unit set up by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department for Transport.

CCAV was established to help ensure that the UK is a world leader in developing and testing connected and autonomous vehicles. It aims to achieve this in part through £100 million of funding (match-funded by industry). This is to support industry-led research and development over 5 years.
