Revolutionising peer support mental health services for young people
At a young age, ZeZe Sohawon was diagnosed with autism, psychosis and a personality disorder. Now, as a published author, mental health speaker and neuroscience student, she’s using her experiences to support others. ZeZe hopes to become a role model for other young people, which is something she wished she had growing up.
Emotional dysregulation is when an individual struggles to communicate and express emotions safely, which can lead to self harm. The Emotion Dysregulation in Autism network will be one of the UK’s only youth-led and psychologically informed peer support services.
As ZeZe explains, she will utilise a model where peer support workers use intervention and lived experience to reduce self harm.
She hopes to devote her life to helping those with enduring mental illness and is eager to drive social change. The tailored business support offered by the Young Innovators programme will be invaluable in taking her business forward.
“It is such a prestigious Award and I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity. I’m looking forward to learning more about business strategy and sustainable growth,” she says.
