What is the Newton Fund?
The Newton Fund is part of the UK Government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA). Its aim is to develop science and innovation partnerships that promote the economic development and welfare of developing countries.
Initiated in 2014, the UK Government will grant £735m of funding over seven years to address major challenges across sectors as diverse as energy, health, urbanisation, ICT, agriculture and food. Find out more at www.newtonfund.ac.uk.

How is the Newton Fund delivered?
The Fund is delivered by 15 UK partners, one of which is Innovate UK. It runs regular R&D competitions, with UK and partner country organisations invited to submit joint proposals. These are reviewed by a jointly constituted and chaired panel and reviewers nominated by the UK and the partner country. Open competitions are listed below.

How is the Knowledge Transfer Network involved?
KTN works closely with Innovate UK on networking activity around the Fund, crucial to help UK and in-country participants to meet and develop collaborative partnerships.This can take the form of online partnering platforms, partnering webinars, overseas brokering visits or inward visits from partnering countries.
