Can 5G Help Defuse the UK’s Health and Social Care Time Bomb?

As the Coronavirus pandemic has illustrated, the need to deal with health and social issues remotely has never been more important. The speed of transition to digital will only increase and 5G will be essential to the delivery of these new services. This online event will give you an outline of what 5G can deliver and put you in contact with some of the UK’s leading experts already working on advanced projects in this area.

They will advise you on how best to address your own region’s health and social care challenges as well as dealing with the risk of digital exclusion. For companies seeking to provide technology and services in this sector, it will be an opportunity to hear directly about the market demand.

The NHS’s Long Term Plan is almost entirely underpinned on the rise and adoption of digital services with the use of telehealth tripling by 2025, fuelled largely by 5G. However, Local and Regional Authorities are currently under huge pressure from the Covid crisis as well as facing longer-term challenges of providing the infrastructure required to move more rapidly to digital delivery. Also, increasing digital exclusion is a growing issue as more and more services move online.

However, this event will showcase organisations that are overcoming these challenges at a local and regional level as well as introducing innovative companies delivering the necessary networks and telecommunications technology. This will be an opportunity to share best practice from across the UK as well as providing support for organisations new to this field.

The purpose of this UK5G SMEs & Regions Working Group seminar is:

• To provide information and knowledge sharing opportunity for regions all across the UK to learn from best practice and wherever possible coordinate activity on delivery of health and social care programmes and to help alleviate digital exclusion
• To provide a showcase for organisations (SMEs in particular) to showcase innovative solutions already being deployed
• To provide a forum for established telecommunications organisations to engage with the community of interest
• To provide a window for DCMS and NHS on the potential benefits of increasing collaborative working

The benefits of attending will be the provision of digital health and social care services have never been more important. However, the immense pressure of the Covid crisis, on top of already very challenging demographics of ageing and health in some regions, makes planning for the adoption of such services an even greater challenge.

However, attendees of this conference will also have the benefit of hearing how some regions are successfully addressing these challenges as well as hearing from some of the innovative companies providing technical solutions. For commercial organisations interested in being suppliers to the health and social care sector it will be an opportunity to hear about the enormous business potential which exists.
