About the event
You will hear the latest thinking from government futures teams and what that might mean for the water sector and then you will be asked to share your thoughts and ideas, via an online questionnaire, on how the Innovation Fund should evolve to ensure it can continue to support new ideas and solutions to meet the challenges water companies will face from 2025-2030 and beyond.
Background to the Ofwat Innovation Fund
Since 2020 the £200 million Ofwat Innovation Fund has been supporting innovation in the water sector. With over 50 projects ranging from using AI to monitor algae growth, through to pipebots to make sewer surveys safer as well as new approaches to help vulnerable customers.
In December 2022 Ofwat confirmed that the Innovation will continue into the next price review period – 2025-2030. There will be at least £300 million to help fund innovation and transform the water sector.
Our futures workshop will explore what the government futures scenarios will mean for the water sector and how the Innovation Fund should evolve in response to help meet the needs of the sector and support innovation to 2030 and beyond.
