HetSys Industry Day
Innovate UK KTN and the HetSys CDT are organising an Industry Day. The Industry Day event will take place in two stages. First we have an online event on 12th September, 1-4pm where an overview of the CDT and its research capabilities will take place. This will be followed by an in-person event at Warwick University campus on 22nd September to link industry partners with potential academic collaborators and develop project ideas.
EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Modelling of heterogeneous Systems (HetSys) recruits students from across physical sciences, mathematics and engineering and trains students to challenge the current state-of-the-art in computational modelling of heterogeneous, ‘real world’ systems across a range of research themes modelling of materials and molecules. More details of HetSys activities can be found in their newsletter.
Webinar recording and slides are now available

The CDT has a range of existing project partners who collaborate with its academics and co-fund PhD research projects, and is keen to grow this pool further.
Examples of current projects include:
- Material Aging supported by AWE
- Semiconductor Lasers supported by Huawei
- Amorphous Pharmaceuticals supported by AstraZeneca.
Who is the Event for?
From predicting particle and aerosol deposition, understanding the spreading of liquids over solid surfaces and crack propagation through solid and coated surfaces, to the transport of chemical substances through porous media for assessing nuclear waste deposition sites.
What can industry participants expect to get out of the events?
- Online: An awareness of the state-of-the-art multiscale modelling research capabilities at Warwick
- Online: Information about ways to engage with HetSys, ranging from industry study groups through to co-funded and co-supervised PhD projects.
- In Person: one-to-one discussion with potential academic partners
- In Person: Opportunities to co-create PhD projects, either for Oct 2023 start (Call for projects will go out in Oct 2022) or Oct 2024.
