As you might have seen in this recent LinkedIn post from Jo Frost, the Horizon Europe National Contact Point for Health, the European Commission has recently published the 2026-2027 Work Programmes with €14 billion of research and innovation funding opportunities.

The UK is a Horizon Europe Associated Country, so UK organisations can participate as beneficiaries and as coordinators – although occasional restrictions may apply to a particular calls/call topics.

The webinar will give a brief introduction to Horizon Europe. It will then cover the Horizon Europe research and innovation funding opportunities related to Health, including from the Health Work Programme, Cancer Mission, and Health Partnerships.

We will also give a brief overview of the many Health funding opportunities across the rest of Horizon Europe, including the European Innovation Council (EIC), European Research Council (ERC) and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).

The event will be delivered by the UK National Contact Points (NCPs) for Horizon Europe Health and will cover funding opportunities including:

  • €1.081 billion under the Health Work Programme (excluding Partnerships)
  • €264 million for the Cancer Mission
  • €1.3 billion under the European Innovation Council (EIC) 2026 Work Programme
  • €2.7 billion under the European Research Council (ERC) 2026 Work Programme
  • €3.4 billion under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)

It will also cover funding opportunities under the Horizon Europe Health partnerships and will explain how each partnership has specific eligibility conditions. Current health partnerships funding opportunities include:

  • The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) with the UK eligible for Call 12 Topics 1, 2, 3 and 5 worth a total of €119.8 million
  • €147 million in the Global Health EDCTP3 (European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership) 2026 Work Programme
  • €31 million under the OH AMR (European Partnership for One Health Antimicrobial Resistance) 2026 call, including £1 million from the Medical Research Council (MRC) and just over £1 million from Innovate UK
  • €35 million under THCS (the European Partnership for Transforming Health and Care Systems) including £2 million from the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

This webinar is being repeated on a regular basis to enable you to find a session that works for you – you only need to attend one webinar. Available times:

  • 16 January 2026 – 10:00-12:30 GMT
  • 2 February 2026 – 12:00-14:30 GMT
  • 25 February 2026 – 12:00-14:30 GMT
  • 25 March 2026 – 12:00-14:30 GMT
  • The event is designed for anyone based at UK organisations that is interested in exploring Horizon Europe Health research and innovation funding opportunities. The sessions are suitable both to newcomers and to those with experience who would like to know about the latest funding opportunities recently announced.

All types of UK organisations can apply for Horizon Europe research and innovation funding, including businesses (small and large), academia, research organisations (public and private), the NHS, hospitals, charities, NGOs, patient groups, regulators, public administrations (local, regional and national authorities) and many more.

However, due to its breadth and depth, Horizon Europe can be quite daunting, so this event aims to clearly present and summarise the different Horizon Europe Health funding opportunities, so that you can find out if there are any funding opportunities of interest to you.

  • This webinar is being repeated on a regular basis to enable you to find a session that works for you.

There are various funding opportunities closing on different dates across 2026 and 2027 depending on which call you are interested in. However, we would advise you to attend as soon as possible because the 2026 funding calls under the main Horizon Europe Health close on 16 April 2026.

Many parts of Horizon Europe fund consortia projects involving at least 3 countries, and it typically takes around 3 months or more to form a good consortium and to write a strong proposal, so the sooner you can attend one of these sessions, the more feasible it is to apply to the earliest deadlines.
