About the event
Event timings: 9am – 12pm EAT | 7am – 10am GMT
This dialogue is designed to accelerate collaboration between the UK and Kenya in developing accessible and affordable early cancer detection solutions, while laying the groundwork for a pipeline of innovations that can be supported under future Lead Customer Programme Global Innovation Networks.
Cancer remains a significant health burden in Kenya, where late diagnosis and limited access to affordable solutions continue to affect survival rates. This roundtable brings together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, innovators, and investors to share knowledge, co-create pathways, and shape partnerships that will strengthen cancer care and innovation adoption.
Together, we aim to rewrite the story of cancer in Kenya by:
- Driving development of cost-effective, scalable innovations – from mobile diagnostics to AI-powered tools – for early cancer detection.
- Connecting UK and Kenyan experts to share knowledge, resources, and experiences, ensuring locally relevant and globally informed solutions.
- Supporting sustainable healthcare systems in Kenya that can detect, diagnose, and treat cancer early and effectively.
Focused areas
This Global Innovation Network will specifically spotlight innovations in:
- Breast cancer: The most prevalent cancer among women in Kenya and globally, where awareness and early screening are critical.
- Prostate cancer: A rising concern, particularly among men over 50, requiring affordable and effective screening tools.
- Cervical cancer: A major health challenge linked to HPV, where early detection can dramatically reduce mortality rates.
