The mass electrification of transport as part of the UK’s transition to Net Zero provides a potentially significant source of distributed energy flexibility, which can help cost-effectively integrate renewables as well as providing financial benefits to electric vehicle owners.
The V2X Innovation Programme aims to address barriers to enabling energy flexibility from bi-directional electric vehicle charging. Following the launch of V2X Innovation Programme – Phase 1, which is supporting the development of V2X bi-directional charging prototype hardware, software and business models, government representatives will set out their plans for Phase 2 of the V2X Innovation Programme.
The V2X Innovation Programme forms part of the Flexibility Innovation Programme, which sits within the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero’s £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio. Innovate UK are delivering the V2X Innovation Programme on behalf of the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.
