9th August: A Showcase of Heriot-Watt Research and Innovation involvement in the Solar Decathlon Middle East – Dubai 2020
Heriot-Watt University, 9 Aug: find out more about a global competition to design, build and operate an innovative, smart, sustainable future house.
In the context of Expo2020 Dubai, The Solar Decathlon Middle East 2020 (SDME2020) is a global competition to design, build and operate an innovative, smart, sustainable house of the future. This is an extraordinary, high-profile opportunity to exhibit globally and in a huge growing economy. We are looking to develop, prototype, and showcase emerging systems, techniques, materials, and technologies.
What is the opportunity for business? Access funding, collaborate in cutting-edge research, innovate, grow your profile, meet new partners and customers…and much more!
Heriot-Watt University is inviting companies with relevant expertise and products to join our researchers on a journey and create an award-winning house showcasing the best of Scottish research, innovation, creativity and know-how. Heriot-Watt will partner with Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Innovation Centres (including CENSIS and Construction Scotland) to access the latest technologies and expertise across all industry sectors.¬†There will be the possibility to access funding to fabricate a local pavilion, or components, in Scotland during 2019 and 2020. The SDME pavilion (a single-family house) will then form a core part of the Scottish presence at the Global Expo 2020 in Dubai, and receive international visitors from November 2020 to April 2021. The event will also include a talk on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships from KTN’s Lorna Howarth.
The SDME2020 competition plays neatly to the strengths of Heriot-Watt’s programmes, academics and research centres. Our event on the 9th August will help you understand your opportunities to engage in various initiatives leading to Expo2020 Dubai and SDME2020 and how you can partner with us through a range of collaborative research and innovation programmes.
