Capsules of AI Knowledge video series
The Capsules of AI Knowledge are a series of short video insights produced to help businesses tackle common challenges on their journey to adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and navigate the often complex and confusing journey to successful AI adoption. Whether you’re new to AI or looking to refine your approach, these videos are your starting point to confidently navigate the world of AI adoption.
Navigating the AI adoption process
The capsules originated from the Independent Scientific Advice (ISA) offering, a core part of the Innovate UK BridgeAI programme, which continues to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) today.
The Capsules of AI Knowledge are short, impactful videos, each lasting up to three minutes, designed to guide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the complex journey of AI adoption. Each video provides a concise yet actionable overview, offering insights into key considerations at every stage of the BridgeAI Adoption Framework. Despite their brevity, the videos are packed with value, featuring clear calls to action, such as enrolling in training sessions, exploring in-depth resources, or completing readiness assessments.
Through this initiative, a team of independent scientific and associated advisors, academics and experts in a wide range of AI technologies and industry sectors from across the UK, provide tailored advice to SMEs. To date, the team has supported over 150 organisations, offering up to 16 hours of free of charge, one-to-one guidance to help businesses overcome specific challenges in adopting and applying AI. This support can include areas such as technology implementation, developing strategic AI roadmaps, addressing governance and ethical considerations, building internal skills and capabilities, and identifying collaboration opportunities with academia or other partners.
Mapping Questions to the AI Adoption Framework
To ensure the capsules not only informative but also strategically valuable, we mapped each one to the BridgeAI Adoption Framework, which breaks down AI adoption into five key stages: Strategy, Data, Build, Implement, and Cross-cutting considerations. This structure supports SMEs in navigating AI adoption through a logical, phased learning experience.
Each capsule is grounded in real-world questions raised by SMEs and is designed to demystify complex topics. Below is a summary of each stage, including key themes and how the videos connect to specific challenges SMEs face.

Watch Data series
The journey to effective AI begins with data. Data serves as the backbone of any AI solution, and understanding how to manage, prepare, and leverage it is essential for success.
In the Data stage, we aim for both developers and deployers to start collating the necessary data to train and test an AI model. This stage covers a host of data challenges, such as Preparing, assessing, and managing data to train and test AI models. Before any model can be built, good-quality data is essential. This stage focuses on sourcing, cleaning, structuring and visualising data in ways that enable meaningful AI development.
These videos guide you through understanding what “AI-ready” data looks like, identifying gaps in your datasets, and ensuring your data processes are aligned with your AI goals. SMEs often struggle here, these capsules show you how to turn messy data into a valuable asset.

Watch Build series
Creating robust AI models is a pivotal stage in the AI adoption process. Careful planning and execution are crucial to ensure the models are safe, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
In the Build stage, we guide you in developing safe, secure, and trustworthy models. This includes focusing on testing and training data, as well as managing bias and ensuring transparency. Developing trustworthy, ethical, and standards-aligned AI solutions. This stage covers building models with an emphasis on trust, safety, and ethics. It’s about understanding compliance, addressing bias, and choosing the right development approaches (including open-source tools).
As your AI projects move into development, these capsules help you ask tough questions: Are our models fair and explainable? Are we compliant with upcoming regulation? Should we build from scratch or leverage open-source tools? Learn how to embed responsibility into every line of code.

Where your strategy meets execution – deploying your new AI solutions. The Implement stage focuses on ensuring your AI workflows are effectively integrated into your business operations, delivering tangible benefits while maintaining trust and reliability.
At BridgeAI, we’re here to guide you through this transformative step, such as Deploying and maintaining models while building internal confidence and scalability. Once an AI model is built, it must be integrated into business processes, refined over time, and scaled safely. This stage looks at deploying AI, forming external partnerships, and mitigating operational risks.
Model deployment and maintenance, to ensure ongoing confidence in the outcomes. Looking at necessary model improvements and to enable scaling up.
These capsules show how to move beyond pilots into live deployments. They address technical rollouts, partnership strategies for R&D, and internal change management—ensuring your AI tools are not only launched, but sustained and improved.

Watch Cross-cutting series
Ensuring a sustainable and ethical approach to AI adoption requires a cross-cutting focus on upskilling, transparency, and consistency. This stage addresses key critical themes that apply across all stages of AI adoption. Some challenges, like governance, talent, and regulation cut across the entire AI lifecycle. This stage addresses foundational elements that must be embedded at every phase.
These topics highlight organisational and regulatory elements that can make or break AI adoption. Learn how to attract talent, anticipate regulatory changes, and create internal structures that support innovation responsibly and sustainably.
A collaborative effort
These videos, designed by The Alan Turing Institute, were possible through the collaboration of our delivery partners, who not only contributed their expertise by helping to write the scripts, but also bravely stepped in front of the camera to share their insights. The series also aims to highlight the collaborative nature of a multi-partner programme like BridgeAI, which brings together a wealth of perspectives and experience. In the videos, you’ll see contributors from Digital Catapult, STFC Hartree Centre, BSI, Innovate UK Business Connect, and The Alan Turing Institute. Each offering valuable guidance informed by their area of specialism.
Comprehensive support
BridgeAI offers a range of tailored resources to complement these capsules, including self-paced training programs and bespoke advisory sessions, empowering businesses to make informed decisions throughout their AI journey.
