Clean growth and infrastructure innovation event, Newcastle upon Tyne, 17 September

Posted on: 16/08/2019

A must-attend event for those interested in funding opportunities in these sectors. The event will focus on the North East’s urban living strength.

If you are involved in the energy, construction or urban mobility sectors and have an interest in clean growth and infrastructure, this event is a must.  Taking place in Newcastle upon Tyne on 17 September, it will take an invaluable look at funding opportunities for the clean growth supply chain, be a chance to hear from successfully funded projects and allow delegates to gain an understanding of the support available for these sectors, with the focus being on the regional strength around urban living.

With representatives from Innovate UK, now part of UK Research and Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) on hand to give the latest updates on funding, particularly the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, and the chance to network with experts from academia, like-minded companies and key stakeholders, this event is well-worth attending.

The agenda will be an in-depth look at the clean growth sector in the North East with regional experts shining a light on industry needs and drivers.  Innovate UK and KTN will highlight the funding and support available right now and in the future.  The Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) is seeing funding from government into clean growth sectors as diverse as construction, energy systems, mobility, food production and batteries.

The recently announced final round of R&D funding for Transforming Construction ISCF is building on the successful funding already received by 23 projects in Round 1. Round 2 will cover up to £10m in MMC, digital and whole-life performance (CR&D) programme and up to £26m in a Demonstrator programme.  The competitions closes on 30 October and 6 November respectively so there is a real potential for North East companies to get involved.

The Prospering from the Energy Revolution Challenge is also a live opportunity, with £3m being invested in technology components that can enhance the efficiency of local energy systems. These should deliver cleaner, cheaper energy services and create more prosperous and resilient communities across the UK.  This competition closes on 9 October.

These are just two of the current opportunities and competitions that come on stream regularly Рthis event will provide an insight into the funding landscape and the support available locally and nationally to develop applications and give delegates the chance to participate in brokerage sessions throughout the day to create new partnerships and potential sources of collaboration.

The agenda covers the following areas:
