Cybersecurity Academic Startups 'Showcase Day'

Phase2 of the Cybersecurity Academic Startups Programme, supporting the Develop strand of the National Cyber Security Strategy.

KTN recently assisted in delivery of a successful three-month phase2 of the Cybersecurity Academic Startups Programme, funded by DCMS in partnership with Innovate UK, supporting the Develop strand of the National Cyber Security Strategy. The programme took some of the best cybersecurity ideas in academia from across the UK and provided support to progress towards a commercial business. Seven teams ‘graduated’ by building working prototypes and establishing their new ventures.

October 19 was “Showcase Day” held at Level 39, Canary Wharf which proved to be a fantastic networking setting. The new ventures pitched their business propositions and presented their prototypes or Minimum Viable Products (MVP). All the teams received considerable interest from the invited investors and industrialists and all the feedback so far has been extremely positive.

All the startups felt that the support they were given over the three months was extremely worthwhile for developing their business plans from theory into reality. It allowed them exposure to potential customers, partners, and investors they may not have otherwise have accessed especially in such a short lead time.
