Developing a Transport System that is open to everyone
The Department for Transport has launched a consultation seeking feedback on a draft accessibility action plan.
The action plan sets out their proposals to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities and covers a range of transport modes including:
- aviation
- rail
- buses
- taxis
The document also considers ways that we can improve our public space to make it more accessible for people with disabilities.
In the consultation foreword, Accessibility Minister Paul Maynard said:
“My ambition is to ensure that people with physical and hidden disabilities have the same¬†access to transport and opportunities to travel as everyone else. This consultation seeks to¬†understand what more needs to be done to improve transport accessibility and is my first¬†major action as Accessibility Minister.”
The consultation period will run until 15 November 2017.
