Finding digital solutions for mental health issues
KTN, on behalf of UK Research & Innovation, is organising a workshop to bring together key stakeholders to identify patient needs in mental health.
Mental ill health is the single largest cause of disability in the UK, contributing up to 22.8% of the total burden, compared to 15.9% for cancer and 16.2% for cardiovascular disease.
In recognition of the need to address mental health, Innovate UK and the Research Councils, now collectively under one organisation, UK Research and Innovation, held a series of meetings to consider how businesses can respond to the needs of individuals experiencing mental ill health problems. The development of digital tools to provide support to patients, clinicians, and the community, was identified as an area of significant opportunity.
To explore this opportunity in more detail, the Knowledge Transfer Network, on behalf of UK Research and Innovation, is holding a workshop in London on Monday 21st May to bring together patients and the clinical community, with industry, in particular small and medium sized companies focused on digital health technologies.
Photo galleries are not available for content from the previous KTN website: we apologise for this.
This will allow companies to hear the needs of patients, and to consider, with delegates, how their capabilities could be applied to deliver new products and digital tools that will provide solutions to the needs of patients, clinicians, carers and society as a whole.
We would like to explore 2 major markets
- The NHS and healthcare providers.
- Schools, prisons and employers Рwith clinical support where appropriate.
Tools would aim to raise awareness, diagnose problems early, support appropriate interventions (therapy, including CBT, monitoring, rehabilitation etc).
We are looking to attract a broad cross section of stakeholders from those with first-hand experience of mental ill health, to charities, academics, clinicians, care providers and industry.
