Global Expert Mission: UK-New Zealand Agri-Tech Innovation
In March 2019, Dr Sandeep Sandhu and Dr David Telford, both from KTN, hosted a UK delegation of agri-tech companies to New-Zealand.
Background
The KTN International Team visited Wellington, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Auckland on the 11th to 15th March to better understand the agri-tech innovation landscape and to build collaboration with key companies, led by Dr David Telford (KTM, Agri-Food – Livestock and Aquaculture) and Dr Sandeep Sandhu (KTM – International Development).
They met with a range of stakeholders, from government departments, and small businesses and research institutes who are all playing an important role to innovate in the agri-tech sector.
The UK shares many of the same challenges and the team discovered there was appetite to collaborate in tackling these shared global problems.
You can listen to a recent radio clip here on the current situation for reducing the greenhouse gas footprint in New Zealand with an interview from Duncan Forbes, Project Manager, Agri-EPI Centre (Agricultural Engineering, Precision and Innovation), from the UK delegation. Mr Forbes mentioned in the Radio New Zealand news article here that he hoped partnerships would be formed before the next delegation takes place in June.
