Growing UK Supply Chains for Materials & Components in Advanced Composites
KTN to host an event on 26th September covering British supply chains for materials in advanced composites. Register today.
Knowledge Transfer Network is hosting an event focused on Growing UK Supply Chains for Materials & Components in Advanced Composites on Thursday 26th September 2019 at the Centre for Process Innovation in Darlington. This event is relevant if you are interested in understanding the materials for composites supply chain & would like to help shape future funding.
A Special Interest Group (SIG) project facilitated by the Knowledge Transfer Network and sponsored by Innovate UK has delivered a range of activities focused on the materials supply chain for advanced composites. As the project draws to a close this event aims to provide an overview of activities from across the materials for composites community, inform the community of the SIG outputs, and build on priority areas identified through the SIG for government intervention.
Composite materials offer a number of benefits – they are lighter, stronger, more durable and can offer added functionality when compared with other materials. Composites have the ability improve a product’s performance and lifespan, while there are also energy efficiency benefits associated with a lighter material. Applications are widespread in aerospace, automotive, defence, oil and gas, rail and construction industries to name a few. This event will allow attendees to learn more about the British supply chains for materials in advanced composites.
The agenda is currently in the process of being firmed up, but topics covered will include a perspective on the materials for composites supply chain from Bitrez, a validation and prioritisation workshop, information on the CLF strategy and the Chemistry Council, as well as composites opportunities in the UK from Paul Glossop. In addition to introductions to CPI, attendees will also hear about the findings from HVMC workshops with Auto & Aero OEMS, and KTN’s Knowledge Transfer Manager for Materials Chemistry, Sheena Hindocha, will run through recommendations of enablers within this area.
