New DASA Competition announced: Behavioural Analytics

A new DASA competition focussing on Behavioural Analytics has been announced.

A new Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) competition has been launched, which seeks proposals that can help UK Defence and Security to develop capability in ‘Behavioural Analytics’. They are looking for scientific and technological solutions that provide context-specific insights into the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of individual, group and population behaviour, enabling predictions about how they are likely to act in the future.

This is the first phase of the competition, with the scope at this stage being limited to theoretical development, methodological advancement and proof of concept research. As the challenge is broad and diverse, applications are welcomed from the full spectrum of research disciplines. This would include the fields of psychology and neuroscience, artificial intelligence and data science, in addition to inter-disciplinary research collaborations. Proposals from alternative disciplines such as the arts, humanities and social sciences are also welcomed.

The initial funding for all phases of the competition is up to £5 million, but this is expected to rise. Phase 1 of this competition has £1.6 million available to fund at least 16 proposals.

A series of one-to-one teleconference sessions have been scheduled for Monday 29th October and Friday 2nd November to offer the opportunity to ask specific questions about the competition.
