ARIA: Smarter Robot Bodies
ARIA (UK Advanced Research & Innovation Agency) are funding high-potential proposals for Smarter Robot Bodies with up to £500k each.
ARIA (the Advanced Research and Innovation Agency) want to find bold ideas within the ‘Smarter Robot Bodies‘ opportunity space, exploring how to exploit progress in AI, control, materials, and manufacturing to build robots that approach or even exceed the capabilities of living bodies.
Your proposal should show how your idea either aligns with or challenges the assumptions of the Summary, Beliefs, or Observations in the opportunity space [PDF].
ARIA are looking for ideas that range from early stage curiosity-driven research through to pre-commercial science and technology. They are not looking for commercial or close-to-commercial stage products, or ideas which are likely to happen without ARIA’s support. If you are unsure whether your idea is in scope, email clarifications@aria.org.uk.
If you would like to find a collaborator or have further queries, you can also contact Innovate UK Business Connect’s Robotics team.
Who can apply?
ARIA welcome solicited applications from across the R&D ecosystem, including individuals, universities, research institutions, small, medium and large companies, charities and public sector research organisations. Scientific and technological breakthroughs often rely on a mix of academic and industrial capabilities that can be hard to find in a single organisation, so programmes will deliberately reach across disciplines, sectors and institutions. ARIA welcome applications from individuals and teams who are early in their career or who have atypical backgrounds.
