Innovate UK’s Global Incubator Programme is an acceleration programme for innovative businesses to work with world-leading incubators abroad.

Note: this opportunity is fully funded support and not monetary funding.

We are now accepting applications for up to 8 innovative SMEs to join our programme with Agrifood Futures in Singapore.

We welcome applications from companies developing the next generation of innovative food and beverage products. The focus is on plant-based, fermentation and cultivated systems that can leverage advances such as engineering biology, AI and novel manufacturing and processing solutions. Singapore is a recognised leader in this sector, with a forward-thinking innovation and regulatory ecosystem that has enabled novel food products like cultivated meat to get to market as a global first.

We are committed to a policy of equal treatment and opportunity in every aspect of this programme. As such we welcome applications from those under-represented in the Agrifood sector.

  • To apply for this initiative, you must:

    • Be a business focused on the Agrifood sector.
    • Be a UK-based innovation-led company with ambitions to grow and internationalise.
    • Be a company with fewer than 250 employees.
    • Be the CEO, founder or a senior decision maker in the business who can attend and complete all activities.

    Desirable:

    • Companies with market-ready products or technologies prepared for international deployment.
    • Demonstrated traction through pilots, early sales, or partnerships, suitable for case studies to attract international partners.
    • Clear value propositions aligned with Singapore’s Agrifood priorities.
  • We welcome applications that focus on, but not limited to:

    • Plant-based foods and drinks
    • Precision fermentation and cultivated products (e.g. protein, fats and lipids)
    • Algal, bacterial and fungal derived proteins, biopolymers, pigments and bioactives
    • Novel ingredients to improve the quality and functionality of innovative food products
    • Hybrid protein products (e.g. blending plant-based, fermentation and cultivated products to create novel high-functionality foods)
  • Since 2019, Singapore has nurtured a vibrant global ecosystem for agri-food tech companies to build their ventures and scale up quickly through a strong funding presence, cutting-edge regulatory frameworks, and robust private-public partnerships. The state has been especially active in supporting industry transformation towards being highly productive, climate-resilient, and sustainable, allocating over S$309m to urban food production, future foods, and food safety research and innovation projects. International startups are undoubtedly capitalizing on local opportunities and using Singapore to open access to opportunities in Asia, as regional spending on food is set to double to over S$10.65 trillion by 2030.

  • Agrifood Futures are a global agrifoodtech specialist based in Singapore, building resilient, climate-ready food systems. • Find potential innovation collaborators and partners and develop your network globally.
    • Improve your company value proposition to international partners and investors.
  • Prepare

Online preparation workshops will be delivered to the entire cohort whilst in the UK. You will be allocated an Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist to work with in the UK who will work with you on your strategic action plan for the programme. You will receive an overview of the innovation and sector landscape of the country’s market, a full briefing on the programme and working with the incubator, and support to better present and articulate your business and the value proposition. We will provide one-to-one support to help shape your first visit.

    Pursue

This 6-month stage of the programme is about working with the incubator. The programme will see a visit to the market in November (3-7), providing the opportunity to consider technology and market fit, preliminary customer validation and an introduction to ecosystem players. This will be followed by regular (weekly or fortnightly) virtual sessions with the incubator team, mentors, and experts, to do a deep dive into understanding what it takes to be successful in accessing the market. The final part is a second visit to the market in March 2026 (TBC), including a demo day to showcase the achievements of the cohort continuing to raise the profile and make connections for the businesses involved.

    Exploit

Work with your Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist to continue to exploit the programme, building on all the connections, knowledge, and expertise gained. You should now be in a much better position with the necessary understanding and networks to accelerate your global growth and scaling journey.
