John Clayton
Knowledge Transfer Adviser - North East England and North West Yorkshire
I am a Knowledge Transfer Adviser promoting Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) in North East England and North West Yorkshire.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) support businesses to engage with expert academic teams on a project-based collaboration delivering sustainable innovation with positive economic impact and additional societal or environmental benefits. I look after businesses supporting their projects with knowledge bases in many parts of the country. I also maintain relationships with a number of designated universities in relation to their participation in the programme.
This has included roles as lead Adviser piloting KTP engagement with FE (Further Education) colleges in North East England and in Africa (AKTP) with the British Council and Universities in Nigeria and Ghana. I joined the Knowledge Transfer community following International Trade and Inward Investment postings to the FCO in China, the USA and Kuwait. I completed an MBA from Durham University in 2002 on Regional Economic Development and Business Strategy, while on secondment to the North East Regional Development Agency.
