Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment
A topic of Global Challenges
You are currently exploring one of the 6 topics (clusters) under the “Global Challenges” category. Use this as a starting point to determine if your innovation aligns with funding opportunities in Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment focusing on climate action, biodiversity, and resource resilience. Is it the right fit for your project?
The Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment topic provides funding for actions that restore biodiversity, improve food systems, expand the bioeconomy, and promote circular economy. This topic integrates economic, environmental, and social aspects of sustainable development and addresses numerous UN Sustainable Development Goals. It funds actions across seven themes aimed at aligning human activities with sustainability goals.
Key Objectives
- Biodiversity Recovery: Restoring and valuing biodiversity and ecosystem services across all habitats, on land and water, to build a sustainable future.
- Sustainable Food Systems: From farm to fork, improving food production, supply chains, and consumer health through diet and behaviour-driven solutions.
- Bioeconomy and Circular Economy: Expanding bioeconomy sectors and promoting resource efficiency to minimize environmental impact as part of the EU Green Deal.
- Clean Environment and Zero Pollution: Reversing site contamination, reducing pollutant losses, and enhancing environmental quality.
- Climate Action: Addressing climate challenges across land, water, and oceans by fostering low-carbon practices and linking with Cluster 5 initiatives.
- Community Resilience: Empowering urban, rural, and coastal communities to collaborate and adapt to transitions and challenges ahead.
This cluster is underpinned by actions to support robust evidence and is supported by the use of environmental observations and digital technologies, information gathering and networking and knowledge transfer. The use of evidence-based decision making, through policy and governance is necessary to embed the R&I into actions to bring about transformative action across the food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment sectors.
