About the project
UK-registered Partner: Aston University – Dr Muhammad Imran
Africa-registered Partner: University of Khartoum – Dr Amged Osman Abdelatif
Access to clean, sustainable and cost effective energy solutions for irrigations are primary barriers for agriculture productivity in Sub-Saharan Africa where more than 95% of the agriculture land is rainfed.
This project aims to develop and demonstrate an efficient, cost effective and carbon free hybrid-energy based smart irrigation system in Sudan. During the project, a digital twin of the “hybrid-energy based smart irrigation” will be developed and validated with a 3kWe smart irrigation system.
The project is expected to improve the productivity of the cash and food crops by 15-30% which will ultimately improve the earning of small to medium farmers.
