Project Overview

The D3M_CoLAB project is a collaborative initiative between the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), its operator the University of Strathclyde, and Heriot-Watt University, alongside industry partners focused on advancing data-driven design and manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability. It harnesses the power of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to inform design decisions, optimise product development, improve manufacturing efficiency, and enhance overall competitiveness through successful implementation in various industries.

D3M_CoLab offers a collaborative platform for industry, academia, and research organisations and has received funding from the Glasgow City Region Innovation Accelerator programme plus additional funding from partners.

The project aims to share knowledge, resources, and expertise in data-driven manufacturing, as well as providing training and education to equip the workforce with the necessary skills to leverage data-driven technologies. Project partners include Babcock, BAE systems, Infor and Anaconda.
