Stratellite: Transforming Space and Photonics Manufacturing
Stratellite enhances Scotland’s satellite manufacturing by developing a flexible production line, boosting skills, efficiency, and sustainability. It fosters innovation, reduces costs, and supports UK ambitions in the global space economy.
Project Overview
The Stratellite project led by the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre (LMC), part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) taps into Scotland’s growing satellite manufacturing sector and is seeing the development of an easy-to-reconfigure exploratory production line.
By leveraging advanced technologies and innovative manufacturing processes, the project seeks to enhance skills, drive efficiency, reduce costs, and drive sustainable growth in the sector by streamlining the supply chain. The technology will help manufacturers to make new products for new markets without upfront investment in expensive production facilities.
Stratellite fosters a culture of innovation and collaboration among industry partners including, academia, and research institutions.
The Stratellite project received funding from the Glasgow City Region Innovation Accelerator programme and further contributions from partners and is supporting the growth of the Scottish space industry and wider UK ambitions to become a major player in the global space economy.
