Bristol and the West of England: attracting investment, meeting resident needs
and creating local jobs
Mission Net Zero is helping Bristol and the West of England overcome three major barriers to local climate action: attracting investment, engaging communities and supporting local businesses.
Led by Bristol City Council and funded by the Net Zero Living programme, the partnership includes regional councils, Bristol & Bath Regional Capital, Centre for Sustainable Energy, National Grid and others.
To unlock investment, the team is creating a Regional Climate Investment Plan and digital energy planning platform to build a project pipeline that meets investor needs and regional goals.
Three neighbourhood-level Community Climate Investment Plans are being co-designed with residents to reflect their real needs and priorities.
Training providers and employers are also developing a skills support package to build the workforce required to fill green jobs and help local businesses benefit from the Net Zero transition.
