Embedding sustainability to deliver better homes, services and opportunities in Cardiff
Cardiff is reshaping how the city invests, builds and delivers public services, using sustainability to create better homes, more opportunities and a stronger local economy.
With support from Innovate UK, the Let’s Go Net Zero project developed innovative tools such as a Carbon Dashboard and a self-assessment process to help staff consider emissions in everyday decisions.
Thermal imaging kits, carbon literacy training and a Net Zero Toolkit are helping teams turn that thinking into practical action.
In partnership with Bankers Without Boundaries, the council has also created a model to show the wider social value of retrofit, including benefits like lower energy bills, better health and improved educational outcomes.
These insights are not only shaping Cardiff’s governance, assessment and investment processes but are also being shared with other local authorities, public bodies and businesses through the Cardiff Public Services Board.
