Tracing the lifecycle of electronic products to improve the circular economy
Seven years ago, Lisa Stafford was working in a call centre and offering new devices to customers who didn’t always need to upgrade.
This, along with a trip to New Delhi – where she witnessed vast amounts of old electronic equipment being picked apart – encouraged her to come up with a solution.
TAZAAR works with electronic and electrical hardware manufacturers to trace their products from point of purchase to end of life. Lisa’s aim is to promote the circular economy, remanufacture and recycling.
The business creates a digital record that traces goods and provides ownership and service history to make items more trustworthy on secondhand marketplaces. As a result, electronics and electricals should become more accessible and affordable to all.
TAZAAR is at the interactive design prototype stage and Lisa is currently establishing industry partnerships for proof of concept feasibility studies.
“It was the positive growth and development trajectory of previous Young Innovators that really pushed me to apply. Through the programme, I want to embed myself into manufacturing and supply chain networks, keep ahead of industry trends and meet new people,” she says.
