As a child, Syed Abid was fascinated by motors and loved taking toy cars apart to learn how they worked.
He went on to train as an innovation design engineer and joined a renowned automotive firm in China. However, it wasn’t long before he decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship and create his own electric vehicle (EV) business, MUEV.
MUEV stands for Modular Urban Electric Vehicle. Syed has developed a modular electric vehicle chassis that can be adjusted to match any vehicle shape or size, allowing it to become electric. By using a unique motor layout, Syed’s innovation eliminates the excess weight and improves the vehicle’s efficiency, providing a longer range at a lower cost.
As he explains, there’s a huge opportunity in sectors that have so far been left behind when it comes to electric vehicle technology, like ambulances, taxis and fire engines.
“I want to assist the niche vehicle market to shift towards electric drives without paying a heavy price for it. I hope the Young Innovators programme will give me the ability to pitch my idea to people and properly share my vision. I’d love to learn about how to build a network and how to approach the media and investors.”
