Fatemeh Ameri is the CEO and founder of Precious MD, a cutting-edge MedTech company that leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyse medical images. With a PhD in Business and a background as an academic and lecturer, Fatemeh enjoys putting her knowledge into practice to create positive change.

Fatemeh founded PreciousMD with the aim of developing a non-invasive, real-time, cost-effective, and accurate diagnostic tool for lung cancer patients.

Lung cancer causes 2.1 million new cases and 1.8 million deaths annually worldwide, with over 46,500 people in the UK diagnosed and just an 8% survival rate. It’s known that targeted therapy could improve long term survival rates for patients with mutated EGFR-genes. Yet there are issues with current testing procedures that mean some patients lose the opportunity to find out if this type of therapy might work for them.

“This technology gives those people a second chance,” says Fatemeh. “It’s game changing.”

As a woman entrepreneur in a male-dominated field, Fatemeh faced numerous challenges, including scepticism from potential investors and even friends and family. Despite these obstacles, she persevered, sought mentorship and support from other successful women, and continued to work hard and believe in her vision.

With a long-term ambition of creating a unicorn startup in the AI-based medical imaging sector, Fatemeh is dedicated to using AI technology to improve healthcare outcomes and make medical imaging more accurate and accessible.
