Towards Zero Carbon Homes and Buildings: a Personal Journey
How can local authorities address the challenge of net zero carbon target in the UK’s housing stock? With over 30 years experience in the construction industry, Innovate UK KTN’s Mike Moseley shares his invaluable insights.
To meet the government’s zero carbon targets, the UK’s housing stock will need to go through a transformational change. Heating and cooling of buildings is responsible for a substantial amount of the UK’s carbon emissions. To eliminate this by 2050 we will need to deep retrofit an existing property every two seconds, starting last year! This raises the question; how are we going to realistically overcome these challenges and reach zero carbon targets – and what role will local authorities play?
