Geraint Jones
Knowledge Transfer Adviser - Greater Bristol, Somerset and Devon, South Wales
Based in Bristol, I am a Knowledge Transfer Adviser for the surrounding area, including Bath, Gloucestershire and South Wales.
I have extensive experience from both industry and academia, most recently managing a Research England funded Knowledge Exchange consortium “Pitch-In” on behalf of the University of Sheffield, which helped companies to identify and break down barriers to adoption of Internet of Things technologies.
I have a degree in Physics and a PhD in Materials Science, and was technical director of an electronics manufacturing company, leading the development of new products, mainly based around the magnetisation, demagnetisation and characterisation of permanent magnet materials and assemblies. I was previously the company supervisor for two Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programmes, which developed and productised a magnetic field mapping system, and an EEG brain monitor.
While working at the University of Bristol, I led numerous Innovate UK-sponsored programmes such as VISUALISE and Archive In Your Pocket (AIYP) in the Communications / Computing / Content space, on an extended secondment to 3CResearch. I also project managed the EU Clean Sky projects ELETAD (Electrical Tail Drive) and HERRB (Helicopter Electrical Regenerative Rotor Brake), and the EPSRC programme grant Engineering Nonlinearity.
