We’ll focus on opportunities for a range of sectors, including those less familiar with the applications and benefits offered by industrial biotechnology and the wider bioeconomy.

There will also be an emphasis on six key feedstocks identified as having the greatest potential for development:

  • Whisky co-products
  • Marine biomass
  • Agricultural biomass
  • Forestry biomass
  • Municipal solid wastes and food processing by-products
  • Carbon dioxide

Scottish SMEs will have the opportunity to attend these tailored events in a small group setting, where they will be supported to evaluate the important next steps to progress their project. Dates for these events will be published on the BCB website.

SMEs with projects that have been identified by KTN’s Industrial Biotechnology Team as having the greatest potential will be invited to apply for additional support using the Innovation Canvas. Further details will be made available on the BCB website.

Bioeconomy Cluster Builder project

The BCB project is a collaboration between IBioIC and KTN to grow the bioeconomy in Scotland and across the UK. The project aims to increase the uptake of industrial biotechnology, especially in sectors previously not engaged with IB. Further details can be found on the BCB webpage.
