Innovate UK KTN Global Alliance are delighted to invite potential applicants from across EU Member States, Associated States and third Countries, to participate in the Horizon Europe Tackling Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) online event taking place on 26 November 2021.
This event is being organised in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the UK Science and Innovation Network in Ireland and the Nordics, and UK National Contact Points (NCPs) from Innovate UK (UKRI).

This is also an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) Therapeutics Call. on ‘Disrupting drug resistance using innovative design’ (DRUID). We have also included a National Contact Point (NCP) surgery where you can sign up for 1:1 meetings 13:00 – 14:30 GMT via the event’s online meeting system (called meeting mojo). Joint Programming Initiative AMR (JPI AMR) – 2022 Call on Therapeutics
The JPIAMR Therapeutics Call on ‘Disrupting drug resistance using innovative design’ (DRUID) has a total estimated budget of €17 million. The calls involves 26 funding organisations from 17 countries. This includes the UK’s MRC, BBSRC and EPSRC, as well as funders from Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Partners working in eligible low and middle income countries can also be funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The JPIAMR has also preannounced a ‘Diagnostics and Surveillance Networks’ call which involves funding organisations from 11 countries to date: the UK’s Medical Research Council), as well as funders from Egypt, Estonia, France, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain. Each network coordinator will be able to apply for a maximum of €50,000 for 12 or 24 months period for support of its activities.
Please note: This event is not an information dissemination event, but will focus on the pitching of project ideas and brokering partnerships for European Research and Innovation collaborations and networking. It is focussed on those who have identified specific call topics listed above or at least areas of interest, and are ready to take the next steps, discussing concrete project ideas with potential partners and going forward to a proposal submission. The call topics that we are focussing for this webinar Horizon Europe Cluster 1 (Health) Destination 3 (Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden), Destination 5 (Unlocking the full potential of new tools, technologies and digital solutions for a healthy society) and/or the upcoming JPIAMR Therapeutics Call are also welcome to attend. The event is suitable for anyone with an interest in collaborating in European Research and Innovation projects and who is looking to submit a proposal idea or join a consortium for one of the forthcoming 2022 Horizon Europe Call topics listed above, Horizon Europe Cluster 1 (Health) Destination 3 (Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden), Destination 5 (Unlocking the full potential of new tools, technologies and digital solutions for a healthy society and/or the upcoming JPI AMR Therapeutics Call.
Why should I attend?
This Horizon Europe Tackling Diseases and AMR Webinar will help you find partners from the UK, Ireland, the Nordics and the Netherlands and beyond to form international collaborations and strategic partnerships. The key focus of the events will be to provide hands-on advice to give you the final boost and get you ready for submission into the forthcoming 2022 Horizon Europe calls. There will be the opportunity to present a pitch about your project idea or your capability offering, and you’ll be able to talk to pitch presenters and other delegates in small groups and / or in 1-1 meetings. The UK and European NCP Teams and KTN European Programmes Team will also be available for 1-1 meetings to answer any specific or more confidential questions. Make the most of the pitching and 1-1 meeting opportunities and indicate on your registration form whether you wanted to take advantage of these. (Pitches are subject to space availability and pitches of project ideas in particular will be prioritised. We will contact you to confirm your place post registration.)

*Horizon Europe is the current European Funding Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (following on from its predecessor Horizon 2020). It runs for seven years from 2021 to 2027. The total budget for the programme is €95.5 billion. There are six Clusters under Pillar 2: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness including Cluster 1:Health.
